As a cross country ski resort, we have worked to make Highlands Nordic a year round business. In the spring and fall, we do outdoor education. Spring opens up our 18 Hole Disc Golf Course. In the summer we run day camps and of course, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking in the winter. Highlands has 24km of both Classic and Skate cross country ski trails, and 7km of snowshoe trails, 8km of fat bike trails. Use your own equipment or rent from us! Highlands has ski rental sizes starting at a children’s 8 and going up to an adult size 15. Junior and adult snowshoe rentals are avaliable.
Ski Trails are groomed daily by first class grooming equipement. Our experienced grooming staff are also avid skiers and understand the importance of grooming excellence. The Highlands trails are all 30ft wide and are groomed for both classic and skate skiing.
Please note, we like dogs but do not allow them on our trails. Except for Teal's Tango.
Dog Friendly Ski Trail
We have a flat 3km loop out in the front field, called Teal's Tango. All are welcome on this trail. It is espeically great for beginners. We planted seedlings in the Spring of 2019 with the hope of transplanting them to this trail when they are big and strong. We are looking forward to this location being a great spot to get your dog out on the trails and for an easier learning location for new skiers!
A few rules to live by on Teal's Tango.
- Dogs must be on leashes
- No dogs in the building please
- Pick up what your dogs leaves behind
These simple rules will help make the trail a success.
7km of trails, separate from the skiing network, wind through the picturesque forests of the Niagara Escarpment. Several open areas give breath taking views of Wasaga Beach and the lowlands area.
Tobogganning is closed
Take a ride on our groomed single track fat bike trail, through rolling forest. Rentals are avaliable at Kamikaze in Collingwood. Fat Bike tires must be 3.8 inches or bigger.
Highlands Nordic has a fully stocked Pro Shop with cross country ski equipment for the beginner and recreational skier all the way up to the experienced racer. Gloves, clothing, waxes, pole parts, Highlands has what you need to meet your skiing needs.
There are tools for you to be able to do these services yourself. Visit our Service Bench and we would be happy to teach you. If you are happy with the pros looking after your skis, we can provide anything from repairs to applying wax of the day. Highlands promotes healthy living and having fun on skis. And just like you are taking care of yourself you also need to take care of your skis.
Highlands wants to teach you how to ski properly no matter what your age or ability. We offer a variety of lessons by certified instructors with many years of experience. If you are a beginner, we offer a discovery ski lesson which includes rentals, trail pass and lessons that can last for 30 minutes to an hour. If you want to work on technique, we offer private lessons and allow for the addition of people to the lesson if you wish. Call in advance to set up a lesson that is best for you.
During the winter season, Highlands offers a full cafeteria with nutrition in mind, offering hot soup, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, and our yummy homemade goodies.
