Our Commitment
At Highlands Nordic we strive to provide our goods and services in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of people with varying abilities. We are committed to maintaining an environment that can accommodate individuals with disabilities to ensure they receive equal opportunity to access to the same goods and services, in the same places as other customers.
Highlands Nordic is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities and we will carry out our functions and responsibilities in the following areas:
Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that consider their disability.
Staff are trained on how to best interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities.
Parking
The resort has three large parking lots on site, the Lower Lot for the general public, the North Lot for buses and overflow general public and the Upper Lot for staff, reserved and handicapped parking. It is here our Para Nordic athletes, and other accessible parking pass holders are free to park their vehicles in designated spots with easy access to one of the building entrances. Please ensure your valid government issued Accessible Parking Permit is visible in your vehicle.
Service Animals
Highlands Nordic welcomes and provides equitable access for person with disabilities accompanied by a guide dog or service animal. The person will be permitted to enter the facility with the service animal and will be permitted to keep the animal with them unless the animal is excluded by law from the premise. While using the ski trails we ask the service animal walks on the right side of the trail beside the classic track.
Definitions
Service animals are animals that are individually trained to carry out tasks for persons with disabilities. Service animals are generally dogs, but may include other types of animals such as, but not limited to cats, rabbits or reptiles. Such service animals may be used to assist a person who is blind, has a vision impairment or low vision; a person who is deaf, deafened or hard of hearing; a person who has a mobility disability or difficulties with strength or dexterity; a person who has autism or a developmental disability; a person who has a mental heath disability and many other reasons.
Telephone Services
We are committed to providing fully accessible telephone service to our customers. We will train staff to communicate with customers over the telephone in clear and plain language and to speak clearly and slowly.
We will offer to communicate with customers by e-mail if telephone communication is not suitable to their communication needs or is not available.
Assistive Devices
We are committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use or benefit from our goods and services. We will ensure that our staff is trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services. We have several sit skis available to use for adaptive skiers.
Billing
We are committed to providing accessible invoices to all our customers. For this reason, invoices will be provided in the following formats upon request: hard copy, large print, e-mail.
We will answer any questions customers may have about the content of the invoice in person, by telephone or e-mail.Β

Support Persons
A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them while visiting Highlands Nordic. The group rate will be charged to the support person for admission to the trails.
In certain cases, Highlands Nordic might require a person with a disability to be accompanied by a support person for health and safety reasons of the person with a disability or others on the premises.
Before making a decision, Highlands Nordic will
- Consult with the person with a disability to understand their needs
- Consider health or safety reasons based on available evidence
- Determine if there is no other reasonable way to protect the health or safety of the person or others on the premises
If highlands Nordic determines that a support person is required, we will waive the cost of a trail pass. Equipment rental fees may apply.
