A cold day ahead of us but there is little to know wind which as we know that makes a big difference! Add an extra layer and get out for a ski. It will be worth it I promise! Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky. The trails are in excellent shape. At the moment we are receiving some surprise snow. Nothing has been forecasted so who knows if it will keep going, but you may find the trails a bit snow-covered today.
Today is Highlands Demo Day! Ski testing from 10 to 3, with a wax clinic open to everyone at 2:30 (focusing on Vauhti Liquid wax). Meet in the Wax Hut. Don’t forget to check out our Snow Squall Sale clothing rack. Find discounts from 33% to 50% off. Plus February 1 and 2 only, spend $150 and get a free pair of Bliz Motion Sunglasses.
To add to the excitement this weekend we have a Biathlon Race. It will only have a small affect on the network. The only trails that are used are Rainbow Out, Millennium Loop and a small section of Teal’s Tango. To connect to the rest of the network you will follow Green and then take the right at the top of the hill to slide up to the S-Climb. Cheer the racers and volunteers on if you see them. They are working hard on this frosty weekend!
Make sure to stop by the Front Desk to buy your Teal’s Tango Draw tickets. This is your last weekend!
What would I be wearing while on the trails?
Top, 3 to 4 layers: my warmer base layer, merino baselayer that I use for a mid layer, a light fleece (I actually found the fleece too much for a solo ski, although would have kept it if I was skiing with others) and jacket on top.
Bottom, 2 layers (I never wear more than 2 just change the weight): my warmer base layer, and heavier outer pants. Proper underwear makes a difference too! The no cotton holds true to underwear just as much as your base layer.
Accessories
: warm hat (Sauce Chill Toque), regular weight buff, warmest mitts (Auclair Gigatex, again I found these too much for a solo ski but good if I was skiing with someone), and my Lorpen socks. I usually put on some vaseline on my cheeks and lips to help cut the wind and add a layer of protection. It won’t help with frostbite but it helps with wind burn.
