We are weaving through a very fine timeline this morning. No time for a lazy morning, get up, get dressed and get out for a ski and then book yourself in for a nap this afternoon during the freezing rain. Looks like we are in the clear until 11. Chanse has regroomed with the Husky and it is looking excellent. I really believe it will be worth getting out in the morning. Freezing rain is coming but it is transitioning quickly to snow after. As usually we will have a clearer idea tomorrow morning for you.

Due to the weather the Cafe will be closed today.

It was a bit of a weird day yesterday and I think today is going to delivery a much better ski day. Not much snow fell but what did arrive was solid base building snow. Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky and it is tilling up nicely! I expect it to be a sweet day on skis. Today and tomorrow morning looks like the best chances to get out this weekend. It looks like freezing raining is on its way tomorrow afternoon. This is a a good new/bad news story as it sucks to go for a ski in freezing rain, but freezing rain is better than rain and actually accumulates and builds into the base. Long story short get out for a ski while you can!

Chanse has done a tour with the snowmobile and ginzue to tidy up the skate lane and downhills. The track is in place from Wednesday. It has just started to snow, and you will find the trails snow-covered today. It will be granular underneath but you can still get an edge in. Have fun with the family today and get out for a ski!

Chanse treated himself to a ride in the Husky this morning. Trails are tilling up nicely. Conditions are excellent and the skiing is going to be great. It will be fast with control. The best type of ski day! There are a few thin spots on the Back Red Hill, Hawberry and Teals Tango.

Please remember that the building is closed at 2:30 today. We request you start making your way off the trails at 2 so staff can head home in a timely fashion to see their families. And dont forget the building and the trails will be closed tomorrow.

We received some wet snow overnight. Chanse tried to groom with the snowmobile but it was a no go, so the Husky is out for a tour today! Conditions are in great shape, but it is a STICKY snow day. It will be important to ensure your skis are waxed, that waxless skis are Easy Glided, and the Skins have Skin Care on them. Don’t have any of those items with you? Well gosh I know an excellent shop that can help you out 😃 Teal’s Tango is a little bit thin. Should be a good day to be on either classic or skate skis.

Chanse has tidied up the skate lane with the snowmobile and ginzue. The track is still in place from Saturday and is holding strong. Overall conditions are in pretty good shape. We are seeing a thin spot on the Back Red Hill. Teal’s Tango is also a bit thin. If someone wants to get me a present I wouldn’t say no to a dump of snow☃️

Chanse is riding shot gun on the snowmobile this morning. We are glad that the Husky went out yesterday because there was no way a track was getting in with the ginzue. Chanse has cleaned up the skate lane and left the track from yesterday. In the trees the trails are in good shape. We are seeing a thin spot on the Back Red Hill. Chanse is doing more shovelling today. Teal’s Tango is also a bit thin. There is a bit of fresh snow expected so you will find the trails slightly snow-covered.

8AM UPDATE:

It was a little too bare on the Quarry Loop so we have closed it. The Back Red hill is thin with some dirt spots but skiable. Those seem to be the only 2 spots of note.

Just like that we blink and move back into full winter. Conditions are shaping up nicely for today! Chanse has taken out the Husky to till in that fresh snow we got into the base. We are looking at a machine groomed granular. It will be fast but fun fast. There will be lots of control in the snow.

There will be a couple spots on the thin side. Our 2 culprits will be Quarry Loop and Wolf Hill on the Back Red. Chanse has brought some shovels along to patch things up.  Overall it is looking like a pretty great day to be outside!

OUCH…that one hurt last night. Good news though is we have made it! The base took a beating but we are holding on. Chanse is going around on the snowmobile for a full inspection. Quarry and the Wolf on the Back Red will likely be thin but the rest is in good shape. He is cleaning up the skate lane as he goes. The track is still in good shape. Chanse’s elegant description of the snow type is Wet Groomed Mush. He always paints a clear picture. The skiing will be good but slow and sticky. Waxing and easy glide are a must! It is also currently snowing HARD. You will find the trail snow-covered today.

Let’s put a positive spin on this; the base is going to be pretty much bulletproof once the temps start to start to drop.
