Another beauty day on the trails. Tim has groomed everything with the Husky. Conditions are in excellent shape will another addition of snow to the trails last night. The trails might be a little soft in sections and we will likely see a bit of snow cover as the day goes on. Skiing has been great for both classic and skate!

The snow just kept going yesterday! Conditions are in great shape, although may be a little on the soft side. We are back to some colder temperatures but there is little to no wind predicted today so with the proper layers it will be wonderful out! Chanse has groomed everything with the Husky.

Due to a large group on today we will not have snowshoe rentals available. Thank you for your understanding.

Everything is open.

What would I be wearing while on the trails in the cold?

Top, 3 to 4 layers: my warmer base layer, merino baselayer that I use for a mid layer, maybe a light fleece (for me I find a fleece too much for a solo ski, although would have keep it if I was skiing with others) and jacket on top.

Bottom, 2 layers (I never wear more than 2 just change the weight): my warmer base layer, and heavier outer pants. Proper underwear makes a difference too! The no cotton holds true to underwear just as much as your base layer.

Accessories: warm hat (Sauce Chill Toque), regular weight buff, warmest mitts (Auclair Gigatex, again I find these too much for a solo ski but good if I was skiing with someone), and my Lorpen socks. I usually put on some vaseline on my cheeks and lips to help cut the wind and add a layer of protection. It won’t specifically help with frostbite but it helps with wind burn.

Bottom line don’t let the cold scare you off! You may discover you can enjoy being outside even when it is cold.

Today the snow is a mix of granular and powder. It should result in some fun fast snow especially as the temperatures drop throughout the day. Conditions are in great shape. Chanse has groomed everything with the Husky.

Due to a large group on Tuesday February 24 we will not have snowshoe rentals available that day. Thank you for your understanding.

I think we have officially moved into Second Winter. A little more snow overnight and a little bit coming today. If you can arrange your day this mornings ski will probably be a little better by the afternoon we will see the trails snow-covered. Conditions are in great shape. Chanse has groomed with the Husky. As always in these warm temperatures it is important to ensure that you have your skis waxed, are putting on Easy Glide and use Skin Care.

It is a wet snow kind of day! One of those days that you need to be sure to have your skis waxed. Chanse has groomed everything with the Husky. Conditions will be on the soft and a little slow side but overall pretty good.

We are excited to be able to host Ontario Winter Games – Biathlon. We will close a small amount of the trails during the race for the athletes. They will use Rainbow Out. You can access the rest of the trails by following Green Trail and connecting to S/Climb. The race will be on from 1o to 12:30.

Please note that for another event that is being hosted later today the Cafe will be closing at 2:30.

It is going to be a bit of a bizarre day weather-wise. We are sitting in a heavy fog currently and we may see some ice pellets and then snow on top. The skiing overall should be pretty good although it will be soft and sticky snow. Make sure to wax your skis and use Easy Glide! Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky.

We are excited to be able to host Ontario Winter Games – Biathlon. We will close a small amount of the trails during the race for the athletes. They will use Rainbow Out, up to Millennium Loop and a small section of Teals Tango. You can access the rest of the trails by following Green Trail and connecting to S/Climb. The race will be on from 1o to 12:30.

Yesterday’s storm was something else. I have never seen flakes so big. They were literally the size of golf balls. Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky. Conditions will be great although a bit soft from the fresh snow. Be sure to have skis waxed after this high moisture snow fell.

2pm Update:

We hemmed and hawed over night skiing this morning and didnt make the right call! Roads in our area have been poorly maintained and the snowfall is heavy. We are cancelling night skiing tonight. Thanks for your understanding.Β

Back to winter weather. Looks like it is going to be a bit of an odd day. So far the hourly forecast has not come true. No precipitation has come down. Chanse has groomed everything with the Husky and conditions are looking amazing. The morning might be your best time to ski.

We have decided to move ahead with night skiing. It is a little hard to predict its conditions until we get some weather coming through. It looks like trails will be snow covered and there will be a bit of drifting.

Stay safe out there.

Everything is open.

We have a temporary visit into Spring today. Chanse has groomed everything with the Husky. It is a granular snow and you will find it faster in the morning and slow down as it gets warmer. We may be seeing some t-shirt skiing with the sun out today!

It continues to be warm so it is important to ensure your skis are waxed (all skis), Easy Glide is applied (to waxless skis), and you have put your Skin Care on (skin skis).

Everything is open.
