December 5

Not to be a negative nelly but if you want to get some skiing in this week now is the time. I hate to swear on the Conditions Page but we have some r@!n coming later this week. We are hoping that will change but you never know.

Right now less is more so Chanse did not groom today but there was very little traffic yesterday so it will still be in pretty good shape. All reports came back saying that the  little bit of snow made a big difference.

Sugar Shack Hill and Green are the worst of it.

Early season snow is not for beginners and we are suggesting rock skis. There are thin spots throughout the network and we have our early season roll on the trails that will stick around until there is more snow to be able to push around to make the trails flatter.

Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange with Millennium and Back Red are open.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WALKING ON THE TRAILS. Walking on the trails can do lasting damage. If we want to go for a walk visit the front desk and we can give you directions to several Bruce Trail starting points.

Lessons and rentals will not be available until snow conditions have improved.

December 4

Chanse has gone out to groom with the snowmobile and pan to tidy things up from the weekend. We got a little dusting of snow last night and it looks like it is trying here again today. Once you get to Larry’s Glacier it is better than yesterday! The little dusting of snow really helped. Sugar Shack Hill and Green are the worst of it. Chanse did not groom the Green today.

While Chanse was grooming yesterday we received another 5cm, but we haven’t received anything over night. We didn’t see the temperature drop we were hoping for so Chanse will not be grooming today. With softer snow and these warm temperatures grooming (especially the skis on the snowmobile) can do more damage than help.

As people found out yesterday you NEED Easy Glide to have a fun and success trip out on the trails right now. It is very sticky snow. Having Easy Glide and making sure your skis are glide waxed will make a world of difference.

We have snow! It is amazing what a little snow will do. We are open for early season skiing. 5cm of wet snow came down last night and is still falling. It is very sticky snow, so make sure to put on your easy glide and have your skis waxed.

December 1

Hello December! It feels like we blinked and November was over.

Trails are closed today.

It was a warm night, on top of that we had a warm wind 😕 We didn’t loose it all but the trails are in a delicate state right now and we are hoping to get some skiing for you this weekend.

Some snow coming today and throughout the weekend. Check back here tomorrow to see how we did in the snow department.

November 30

Chanse has gone around with the snowmobile to clean things up from yesterday. If you are looking to get out for a ski today you will need to do it this morning. We will close at NOON.

We are getting pretty warm this afternoon and our precious little base is vulnerable. Fingers crossed🤞 we get the snow called for the next couple of days.

Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange with the Back Red ready for you. There is pretty good coverage all around but it is thin. We are suggesting rock skis.

Rentals and lessons will become available when conditions have improved.

November 29

Here we go!

Chanse, with a little help from Malcolm, has been working hard the last couple of days to capture the snow that has fallen to get some skiing going for us! This is early season skiing (or otherwise known as rock skiing) and is not suitable for beginners. Since yesterday we have received 18cm of snow which has compressed down to 3cm of base.

The Boys rolled with our big roller to get the air out and then Chanse used the pan to flatten and smooth things out. With 23km open that means we have the Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange with the Back Red ready for you. There is pretty good coverage all around but it is thin, so we are suggesting rock skis.

So bust out those rock skis and come out for the first ski of the season!

Rentals and lessons will become available when conditions have improved.

November 27

Chanse is out for a trail inspection to see how it is looking out there. We have some more snow arriving over the next couple of days. So far out in front of the chalet has been panned with the snowmobile and it looks a lot better than we thought it was going to be!

We may be skiing for the weekend!

November 25

Mother Nature has been giving us a little taste of snow through November ☃️ I know we have some keeners out there wondering if it is enough and the answer is not quite yet. Interestedly the snow that has come down the last couple of days has been very dry. Not our usually blanket of wet snow. This type of snow is hard to build a base with! But that doesn’t mean it’s useless! It will help freeze up the ground so that when the real snow arrives it will help hold onto it!

There is a little bit of snow in the forecast so stay tuned!

In the meantime the ProShop is open from 9 to 4 daily and we have our Fabulous Fall Sale on this weekend.
See you soon!  🤞

September 29

We are getting geared up for the season!

The ProShop will open on October 21. Stay tuned for updates here for when there is snow in the air.

For the 2023/2024 season we will have a mixture of appointments and drop in options to purchase ski equipment. We are a family run business which means our staff have a lot of different jobs! During the week we will be doing our ski fittings by appointment so that we know when a customer is looking to get set up with equipment, and we can ensure that one of our Nordic experts is available. When our staff are not in a scheduled appointment you may find them out doing trail work, picking up groceries for the Cafe, doing emails or maybe escaping for a quick ski themselves! We require 48hrs cancellation notice, to allow for opportunity to fill that spot with someone else.

On the weekends we will offer two morning appointment time slots (at 8:45AM & 10AM) if you prefer the one on one service of an appointment. From 11AM on you can drop in for ski equipment fittings on a first come first serve basis.

Clothing, ski service or wax purchases don’t need an appointment and you can drop in for those items during our operating hours.
