Weather changes quickly in March and this year is no different. We are getting some really warm weather starting Wednesday, which means this will be the last really good ski weekend likely. You better get out while the snow is good! It is also Retro Day! I want to see people busting out some seriously awesome outfits. We will have The Georgian  Life Photo Booth with us from 1030 to 130 to capture your retro moment! Conditions are excellent right now. A little bit of fresh snow mixed in nicely with the base. A quick burst back to wintery conditions. The trails will be firm and fast although still able to get an edge in. The trails will be lightly snow covered as it is currently snowing. We are working with the same track from yesterday. It is solid and in great shape. It is a machine groomed granular underneath with a bit of fresh powder on top! We are starting to see some thin spots on Teal’s Tango, but they are easy to ski around. Overall conditions are looking great as we head into the last Friday of night skiing and the start of March Break!

Another lovely day ahead of us! Now is the time to make the most of spring skiing. It can change quickly. Chanse groomed last night with the Husky. It will be firm and fast this morning and then transition to sugar snow as the day gets warmer. We are starting to see some thin spots on Teal’s Tango, bu they are easy to ski around.

830 Update: Teal’s Tango is open. There is one thing spot right at the beginning of the trail.
Everything has been groomed with the Husky and is looking pretty great. That fresh snow mixed in the the current base made a huge difference. We aren’t sure if we will be able to get Teal’s Tango open. We will have to update that when they get to that section. We have a new groomer in training and he is making his debut this morning! Hayden has been riding with Chanse all season and been tackling Teal’s Tango, but today he is moving up in the world! Great job Hayden for grooming the full network!

930 update: Chanse has been grooming with the Husky and the trails are tilling up really well. In the more open sections we lost some base but in the trees we didn’t lose much. The Woolner is open, but we lost the Rockside Loop. There is about 3cm of new snow that has mixed in nicely. There are a few small icy patches, but 99% of the network is good. The snow will be sticky so Easy Glide will be our friend today.

We are in a big transition right now so we will keep the trails closed until 10am.
We needed to the trails firm up a bit before putting machinery on them. Overall the trails faired pretty well, but this new snow will make a big difference. It has just started to snow now and is suppose to continue all day. There maybe a few icy spots today, but overall the skiing should be pretty good. As we get more snow it will get better. Teal’s Tango and Wooler Loop are closed for now until we see if we make some patch repairs to the wet spots.  please park in the upper lot today and use caution walking through the parking lot. I will have another update at 9 when they have been able to complete more grooming.

9:30 Update: 

It is sunny at plus 11. So far it is not nearly as windy as they had called for, although it is starting to pick up a bit. Feedback is the trails are actually in pretty good shape! The worst of it is right around the chalet. Teals Tango has one large bleed through spot. We are working on some water management to deal with those key areas. Long story short the skiing is pretty good! As the sun stays out we will see the snow soften significantly as the day goes on.

We have moved into full spring mode today and then back to minor spring mode as of tomorrow. Trails are open. The skiing will be better first thing and slow down as the day goes. Chanse groomed with the Husky last night. Admittedly it won’t be the best skiing today but it will still be skiing! There is a very low chance of rain (about 40%), with high winds. We are feel confident that we will get through this warm spell, likely loosing loops like the Rockside. Of course we will know more tomorrow.

This morning is the sunrise ski! See you at 6:51 😉 Doors open at 6:20. Chanse regroomed everything with the Husky last night. It will start off firm and fast (but fun!), as it warms up it will soften and slow a little bit. Skiing will be excellent today! Let’s have fun with this Spring skiing 🌷

We request you complete the online Contact Tracing and screening when coming onto the PROPERTY the day you are visiting. You should complete this before you come to ski or snowshoe or fat bike. You cannot do this the night before. This is a public health requirement. This screening will be checked ONLY when entering the building. Entry is through the pro shop doors. Note that cell service may not be good enough to fill out the online form onsite. Once the screening and tracing is complete you will receive an email. Take a screen shot of your contact tracing so it easy to find if you are planning on coming into the building! If the email you receive has come back red, it means you have answered YES to one of the screen questions. In that case public health regulations mean you are NOT able to ski at our location that day. If the email you receive comes back green, we will see you on the trails shortly!
