February 5

There is no time for sleeping in today. Getting on the trails first thing will be key. Overall conditions are in great shape with another day of fast groomed granular. Chanse driving around in the Husky is breaking up the trail to ensure you can get an edge.

There are a couple things to note.

We are starting to see some thin spots on Woolner Loop, top of Quarry and Teal’s Tango. Once people start to snowplow our fine layer of snow will get pushed off. Most of the hills were fine. The hill that was the worst of it was coming down from Larrys Glacier and the Recreational downhill. If you ever don’t feel comfortable please take your skis off and walk down the side of the trail.

The track is set on the left side again today. This strategy helps keeps the base firm across the whole trail. The skate skiers will pack down the snow to be able to make a firm track.

Our Annual Feel the Love Sale is back! Take 14% off all clothing and accessories, with 20% off ski, boots and poles until February 14.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WALKING ON THE SKI TRAILS. Walking on the trails can do lasting damage.

Another stellar day to be out on the trails! Keep those PB’s and Strava Crowns coming! A great day for Demo Day. Come test out some gear from Salomon, Rossignol & Madshus from 10 to 3! Don’t forget to enter into the draw as you walk into the ProShop. Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky and conditions will be more of the same as what we have had the last couple of days. It is a fast groomed granular where you can still get an edge and have control. The best timing for a ski is first thing.

Chanse has switched the track to the left side of the trail again. This strategy helps keeps the base firm across the whole trail. The skate skiers will pack down the snow to be able to make a firm track.

Oh boy if you are looking to get some PB’s or take some Strava Crowns today is your day! It will be fast but in a fun way today πŸ˜‰Β Chanse has groomed our fast (but still able to get an edge) groomed granular with the Husky. It is making for some great conditions. As much as I am excited to see the sun it is not going to be helpful to the trails. That sun can soak up some base pretty darn quick. So make the most of it while it lasts and get for a ski this weekend! Don’t forget your sunscreen πŸ€—

February 2

Looks like we are gearing up for a pretty good ski day. We received a dusting of snow that mixed in nicely to the base with Chanse out in the Husky. Chanse shovelled his little heart out yesterday to take care of some of the dirty spots. We are seeing a few thing spots on Woolner and Teal’s Tango. Skiing will be fast but with control today. It will be a fun day! Chanse has switched the track to the left side of the trail today. This strategy helps keeps the base firm across the whole trail. For those curious/concerned; we did not receive rain yesterday. There was a light drizzle near the end of the day into the early evening but nothing major.

There is a small high school event today. They will be skate skiing. If you see them ski by give them a cheer! They are working towards the goal of OFSAA.

By the way…Demo Day is this weekend on Sunday February 4. Come test out some gear from Salomon, Rossignol & Madshus!

Anyone else in disbelief that is February?! Let’s hope that it brings us a snowstorm or 2.

Chanse has cleaned up the skate lane with the Ginzue and left the solid track from yesterday. We are seeing some icicles drop into the track from the trees. You will find classic skiing won’t be good first thing but get better as the day goes on. Skate skiing will be awesome all day long!

By the way…Demo Day is this weekend on Sunday February 4. Come test out some gear from Salomon and Madshus!

There will be a few dirty spots out on the trails but they are minimal. On Woolner there will be a few wet spots.

Skiing continues to be awesome out there! It is worth the trip. We had another couple centimetres fall yesterday that mixed in nicely to the base. Chanse has taken out the Husky to regroom the track and skate lanes.

There is night skiing tonight! I would suggest a headlamp as we have continued to not really get much sun to charge our solar panels.

We are seeing more of the same type of conditions as we have had the last couple of days. Chanse has tidied up the skate lane with the snowmobile and ginzue. The track is from yesterday and is still in good shape. It is going to be fast first thing and then get more control (especially on the downhills ) as it warms up. Have fun out there today!

There will be a few dirty spots out on the trails. On Woolner there will be a few wet spots. Overall the skiing as been great!

January 29

Another really nice day to be out on the trails. With little to no wind today and maybe a chance of a little bit of sun. How could you not go skiing today?!

Conditions are in great shape with a little bit of fresh snow mixed into the base. We are still seeing a fast groomed granular but you can get a good edge in. Plus Chanse is out in the Husky today to refresh everything. This is especially helpful on the downhills after the traffic on the weekend. There is lots of control on the downhills!

Chanse started off with the snowmobile and ginzue and found it wasn’t doing the trick. Thankfully the temperatures had dropped enough that Chanse could take out the Husky. We have a groomed granular that will be fast but you will still have control and be able to get an edge. It is a slow go this morning and Chanse will still be out on the trails for opening time, please just be mindful of that. Teal’s Tango will be the last thing he grooms (likely switching to the snowmobile and ginzue) and we expect that to be done and ready at 10.

There is a small biathlon race today. They will use Rainbow Out and Millennium for their race course. Take the Green trail to connect to the rest of the trails. If you see some racers out there give them a cheer! They are working hard. Snowshoers will just need to keep an eye out for skiers as you cross the trail.

Staying off the trails the last couple of days has served us well. The base did settle a bit but in the grand scheme of things we didn’t loose a lot.

Chanse has regroomed with the Husky to break up the crust and mix in the freezing rain with the snow. It will be a fast groomed granular today but in a fun way. You will still be able to get a good edge. It is a good time to buy some skins if you are classic skiing πŸ˜‰
