Let’s see if we can get through this bump in the road of nasty weather. There is a lot of rain and freezing rain called for today. It seems crazy but we would rather have freezing rain than rain because it accumulates and is something we can mix into the base. We will close the trailsΒ today in another effort to preserve snow. The snow is in a very vulnerable state and machinery and people will do a lot of damage. The ProShop will be open from 9 to 4.

Here we are again with another year past after the passing of Larry. I will admit this is the first year I don’t really have words to pull together so I will keep it simple. He would just be baffled by this stupid weather, he would have thought the bathrooms upgrades could have been money could have been spent on machinery (although he would have admitted that they look awesome), he would have been jazzed about the heat pumps (always one to be excited about technology) and he would have given a big old thumbs up and grin with a “right on” to all of the new people who tried cross country skiing this past weekend.

We miss you. See you on the trails πŸ’™

We had a gentle rain all night which is the best we could have hoped for. It seems like we have managed to hold onto our base. It is still white out there! But for today we will close the trails to help preserve the snow. The snow is in a very vulnerable state and machinery and people will do a lot of damage. The ProShop will be open from 9 to 4.

We will see another blow from Mother Nature later today. The better skiing will be in the morning. The snow is wet so your key to success today will to Easy Glide and making sure your skis are waxed. Chanse has regroomed everything with the Husky and is *currently* in good shape.

We will remain open for night skiing this evening.

As a heads up we may decide to close the trails tomorrow depending what happens overnight.

Skiing is awesome but yet we have questionable weather on its way later this week. The forecast still has a couple days to change its mind but in the meantime make the most of the great skiing we have. Conditions are in excellent shape and Chanse has regroomed with the Husky.

January 21

We were in the most beautiful little snow globe yesterday. We saw unexpected snow fall all day. Chanse is out grooming with the Husky and the trails are tilling up nicely. Skiing will be excellent today.

It is suppose to be cooler this morning and warm up nicely by noon but let me give you a few tips for the colder temperatures!

  • Layers are your friend. I would suggest add one more slightly heavier layer (like a light fleece) or 2 light to mid layers.
  • Make sure your face is protected. Add something like a buff to cover you face. Also adding a protective product to your face will also help, although that will help more with wind. Sunscreen or vaseline are a couple options.
  • Don’t ski for as long! Break up your ski into shorter laps and come in for a warm up in-between (cinnamon bun break anyone πŸ˜‰)
  • We all know the wind can make a big difference when we are spending time outside. Choose a trail in the trees to stay a bit more protected in the shelter of trees.

Bottom line don’t let the cold scare you off! You may discover you can enjoy being outside even when it is cold. It also isn’t particularly windy today which can make a huge difference.

Everything is open, including the Woolner Loop. There are a few wet spots on the Woolner Loop.

The trails have cleaned up nicely this morning for you! Chanse is cruising around the Husky this morning after we have received a nice little top up of snow. Today is a total classic ski day (of course you can still skate!). It will be a bit soft and with the cold snow will be a bit slow. Snow is currently falling so you will find the trails a bit snow covered.

You may have noticed it is a little chilly out there. Let me tell a few tips to work with these colder temperatures!

Chanse has taken the Husky for another tour this morning. Trail conditions are in excellent shape! Don’t let the cold scare you off. It has been some beautiful skiing. There is not bad weather just bad clothing choices. Put on an extra layer and enjoy being outside!

Everything is open, including the Woolner Loop. There are a few wet spots on the Woolner Loop.

Night skiing is open tonight! Night skiing will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays until 8PM. We would highly recommend bringing a headlamp. Our night lights are solar powered and you may of noticed there really hasn’t been any sun! As well as the cold temperatures the batteries will not have enough juice to get the lights on tonight.

January 18

9AM Update: Currently -9 and lightly snowing. Conditions are excellent with very light wind. Chanse managed to get the Woolner Loop open, which means we are fully open! There will be a few wet spots as it will take some time to get our favourite swamp to freeze up.

Apparently Chanse was tired of turning into a human popsicle snowmobile grooming this week. Can you believe that?! πŸ₯ΆΒ So he pulled out the big guns. The Husky it is making its first trip around the network this season and it is coming up beautifully. Conditions are in excellent shape.

Everything is open expect for the Woolner Loop.

It will be a chilly one out there today! Put on some layers and get into the woods!

We received a dusting of snow overnight. Chanse has regroomed everything with the Ginzue.

He bit the bullet and took the Husky out on Teal’s Tango because the snowmobile sure wasn’t going to be able to handle those drifts!
